PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus performing high precision fault prediction without needing a large amount of storing device.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has: a detecting unit for detecting predetermined abnormality which is a warning sign of its fault; an indicating unit for indicating an operation test on a portion relating to the abnormality to a user when the detecting unit detects the abnormality (S201); a test executing unit for executing the operation test at the portion based on an operation by the user who receives the indication of the indicating unit (S203); a measuring unit for measuring a numeric value indicating a state of the portion within the operation test performed by the test executing unit (S204); and a fault predicting unit for performing fault prediction in the portion based on the numeric value measured by the measuring unit (S205).
