PURPOSE: An inclined type LED package and a backlight unit including the same are provided to tilt a side of a light guide plate at a fixed angle to increase the size of an area on which light is incident without reducing the thickness of the light guide plate, thereby increasing optical efficiency of a backlight unit. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit comprises a light guide plate(100) and an inclined type LED package(200) adjacent to a side(102) of the light guide plate. A large amount of light is totally reflected in the light guide plate. A reflection pattern or a reflection film is formed on the bottom(103) of the light guide plate to reflect light. Light emitted from the LED package is incident on the side of the light guide plate. |
