PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately transfer an image to a predetermined position of transfer material, by suppressing the occurrence of transfer deviations of image with respect to the transfer material.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes: an intermediate transfer belt 8 carrying a toner image thereon; a secondary transfer roller 12 having a recess 14 on its peripheral surface, bringing the transfer material 20 into press-contact with the intermediate transfer belt 8 to form a secondary transfer nip 11a, and transferring the toner image carried on the intermediate transfer belt 8 to the transfer material 20 in the secondary transfer nip 11a; an intermediate transfer belt position detector 28 detecting the position of the intermediate transfer belt 8; and an encoder 26 detecting the rotating position of the secondary transfer roller 12. |
