PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coolant filtering device which has a merit of a hinge belt conveyor system suitable for recovering a relatively large chip and a merit of a drum filter system capable of a precise filter, can be provided at a relatively low cost by a simple and compact structure, does not require a wide space for installation and is easy in maintenance and favorable in filtering efficiency, and to provide a coolant filtering method used in the device.SOLUTION: The coolant filtering device includes a primary filtering tank 1 having a conveyor means 3 for primarily filtering a coolant including the chip and a secondary filtering tank 2 having a drum filter 4 and communicating with the primary filtering tank 1. The coolant primarily filtered in the primary filtering tank 1 is introduced to the secondary filtering tank 2 to secondarily filter the coolant in the drum filter 4. The secondary filtering tank 2 includes a means 15 for recovering and discharging a fine chip 50 caught therein and a return passage 17 separated from a communicating passage of the primary filtering tank 1 and the secondary filtering tank 2 and returning the fine chip 50 recovered and discharged by the means to the primary filtering tank 1. |
