PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory-type display device reducing excessive voltage application in a display changing process for preventing deterioration of an element.SOLUTION: Transition in display changing process includes transition to a certain constant gradation state, and transition to a target gradation. When transition to a certain constant gradation state is performed, control is carried so that only a necessary amount of voltage is applied for each pixel, and consequently, degradation of the element is prevented and power is saved.
