A light source for a touch screen and a touch screen using the light source are provided. The light source (106) is installed on one edge (104) or multiple edges of the frame (103) of the touch screen, and it is formed of a wedge-shaped light guide plate (100) and an illuminant (101). There are a large number of bulges (201) distributed on the front surface (102) of the wedge-shaped light guide plate (100), and the front surface (102) of the wedge-shaped light guide plate (100) faces the touch detection area (105) of the touch screen. The said light source (106) and the touch screen make the illumination uniform by using the wedge-shaped light guide plate (100) when the light source (106) irradiates the touch detection area (105).
