PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium in which an increasing transfer rate of optical recording is possible, and to provide an optical recording method to this optical recording medium.SOLUTION: The optical recording medium 10 includes an information recording layer 14, a support substrate 18, and a protective layer 22. The information recording layer 14, which includes an absorbing layer 12 and a format layer 16 which includes a first half format layer 16A and a second half format layer 16B, is constituted by laminating the first half format layer 16A, the absorbing layer 12 which adjoins the first half format layer, and the second half format layer 16B which adjoins the absorbing layer 12 in this order, wherein an extinction coefficient kto a laser beam of recording wavelength of the absorbing layer 12 is k≥1E-4, and if an extinction coefficient of the format layer 16 is taken as k, k>kis satisfied and the first half format layer and the second half format layer between the adjoining information recording layers are continuously and integrally formed. |
