PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biopsy system for guiding a probe and other components to a desired biopsy region.SOLUTION: The biopsy system 10 includes a control module 12, a localization assembly 15, a biopsy device 14, and a targeting cube 104. The biopsy device 14 includes the probe 91 and other components, which selectively couple with the targeting cube 104 configured to selectively couple with a grid plate 96 having apertures for receiving the targeting cube 104. The targeting cube 104 includes a body defined by faces and guide holes which pass through the body of the targeting cube 104 to provide passages through the targeting cube 104. The body of the targeting cube 104 is at least partially constituted of an elastomeric material to enable the adjustment of the orientation of the passages. The body of the targeting cube is further constituted of a malleable member which is located on the side face of the passage and enables angulation of an instrument by maintaining the adjusted orientation of the passage where the medical instrument is inserted. |
