PURPOSE: A carotenoid molecular wire is provided to ensure variable electric conductivity and stability by attaching aromatic substituents with various electrical properties to a conjugated polyene chain structure. CONSTITUTION: A carotenoid molecular wire is represented by chemical formula 1. In chemical formula 1, Ar^1 and Ar^2 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C6-10 aromatic hydrocarbon and C6-10 aromatic hydrocarbon. The substituted C6-10 aromatic hydrocarbon includes one or plural substituents selected from the group consisting of OH, NH2, NO2, halogen, C1-6 alkyl and C1-6 alkoxy groups.
