PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cosmetics having high transparency and high ultraviolet shielding ability for which rutile-type titanium dioxide having a specific shape is used.SOLUTION: The rutile-type titanium dioxide has a rectangular shape or a straw-bundled shape, which has a particle shape where rod-shaped particles obtained by adding hydrochloric acid to an acid-soluble titanium compound and performing deflocculating treatment at pH 1-3 and then performing hydrolysis by adding additional hydrochloric acid and an aliphatic hydroxy acid compound are oriented and aggregated to form the shape of a bundle, the apparent mean major axial length of oriented and aggregated particles is 40-80 nm, the apparent mean minor axial length of oriented and aggregated particles is 15-40 nm, an apparent mean axial ratio (apparent mean major axial length/apparent mean minor axial length) is 1.2-5.0, and the specific surface area is 150-250 m/g; and the cosmetics are blended with the same. |
