PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a mark easy to check from a sidewise direction of a printing medium.SOLUTION: The ink jet printer jets a liquid droplet of ink from an ink jet head 3 to the recording paper P while reciprocally moving the ink jet head 3 together with a carriage 2. At the same time, the ink jet printer carries out a normal jetting operation for performing printing of an image or the like to a printing region Pb of the recording paper P while conveying the recording paper P forward by a conveying roller, and a marking jetting operation for forming the mark Pd to a side end Pc by jetting the liquid droplet of ink to an edge Pa of the recording paper P. A control device of the ink jet printer controls a head driver to jet the liquid droplet of a larger volume from a nozzle 40 in the marking jetting operation than in the normal jetting operation. The liquid droplet of ink is made to more permeate in the thickness direction of the recording paper P in the marking jetting operation than in the normal jetting operation. |
