Disclosed is an electric field/magnetic field probe which employs an optical fibre, wherein, when stress is applied to the fibre, the state of polarisation of the light that is propagated through the fibre is altered, producing instability in the level of the signal used for electric field detection or magnetic field detection. In order to suppress bending or shaking of the fibre produced by stress applied to the optical fibre, the fibre and an electric field/magnetic field sensor section made of EO/MO material are fixed for example on a quartz substrate and the rest of the fibre, outside the sensor section, is accommodated and fixed in an acrylic tube, for example. Also, a polarisation adjustment component comprising for example a polarisation controller or analyser is assembled in a housing, so that the fibre that is connected with this component is not subjected to stress produced by wind pressure or contact etc.
|
