PURPOSE: A linear motor having segment structure magnetic levitation system is provided to minimize the consumption of power for lifting a car by using magnetic force as a levitation force. CONSTITUTION: A linear motor comprises the electromagnet(150) on the ground and electromagnet(140) on a car. The electromagnet on the ground is attached to a track(170). The electromagnet on the car is fixed to a bogie and is opposite to the electromagnet on the ground. The electromagnet on the car has a core and a coil(130). The coil surrounds a protrusion formed in the core. The core has a plurality of segments and permanent magnets. The permanent magnet is arranged on the segments to be opposite to the electromagnet on the ground.
