PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To successfully perform gear shift action to a backward gear, in a manual transmission including a selective sliding type reverse gear train.SOLUTION: This gear shift operation device for a manual transmission includes a braking operation member 121 which is rotated in conjunction with a control rod 100 in the preceding period of the shift operation to a reverse position and brakes the rotation of a primary shaft 10 by operating a synchronizing device 60 through a gate member 107 for a forward shift stage. A reverse shift lever 110 sliding a reverse idle gear 37 is formed with a braking releasing lever portion 110c which acts on the gate member 107 in the latter period of the shift operation to thereby release the braking operation of the synchronizing device 60. The braking releasing operation in the latter period of the shift operation and the engagement operation of the reverse idle gear 37 are always performed at predetermined timing. |
