<p>Disclosed a liquid crystal display device with improved transmittance. The liquid crystal display device is provided with a first substrate and a second substrate arranged facing each other with a liquid crystal layer held therebetween. The first substrate has pixel electrodes to which a signal voltage is applied, and common electrodes to which a common voltage is applied. The pixel electrodes and the common electrodes each have comb teeth, and the comb teeth of the pixel electrode and those of the common electrode are interlocked with a space therebetween. The liquid crystal layer includes liquid crystal elements having positive dielectric anisotropy, and when no voltage is applied, the liquid crystal elements are oriented in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the first substrate. The first substrate has extension wires which are positioned so as to overlap with one or more comb teeth of the pixel electrodes or of the common electrodes; the extension wires, to which a signal voltage is supplied, extend along said one or more comb teeth separated by an insulation film.</p> |
