<p>PURPOSE: An air-conditioner and an operation method thereof are provided to prevent malfunction of and damage to a compressor due to refrigerant leakage since refrigerant leakage is periodically detected using simple configuration. CONSTITUTION: An air-conditioner comprises an outdoor unit including a compressor and an indoor unit connected to the outdoor unit. The indoor unit comprises a temperature sensing unit(140), a controller(110), and an output unit(130). The temperature sensing unit measures pipe temperature and indoor temperature of refrigerant provided from the outdoor unit. The controller stops the operation of the compressor by the determination of refrigerant leakage according to the difference between the pipe temperature and the indoor temperature inputted from the temperature sensing unit. If the refrigerant leakage is repetitively detected, refrigerant leakage warning is outputted under the control of the controller.</p> |
