摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a blocking mechanism for blocking an electric circuit containing a capacitor when high heat generation occurs from the capacitor.SOLUTION: In a power supply circuit 13 of a discharge lighting device 11, a rectifier 18 obtains a pulsating-flow voltage through rectifying AC voltage of a commercial power supply 15. An electrolyte capacitor 19a converts the pulsating-flow voltage obtained at the rectifier 18 into DC voltage by smoothing it. A discharge lighting circuit 14 of the discharge lighting device 11 converts the DC voltage obtained at the electrolyte capacitor 19a into high-frequency voltage to make the discharge lamp 20 light with the high-frequency voltage. A blocking mechanism 17 is fitted at the power supply circuit 13. The blocking mechanism 17 includes a temperature sensitive element 17a for sensing the temperature of the electrolyte capacitor 19a. The temperature sensitive element 17a is arranged so as to be in contact with the electrolyte capacitor 19a between the electrolyte capacitor 19a and a printed circuit board. The blocking mechanism 17 blocks the power supply circuit 13 when a temperature higher than a preset one is sensed by the temperature sensitive element 17a.
