PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule endoscope and a capsule endoscope system which are capable of accurately discriminating the position of the capsule endoscope.SOLUTION: The capsule endoscope includes: an imaging unit for generating the image signal of an observed object; a transmission unit for transmitting the image signal generated by the imaging unit to an external receiver; a structure detection unit for detecting the structure of the observed object around the capsule endoscope; and a location determination unit for determining the position of the capsule endoscope inside the observed object on the basis of the structure detected by the structure detection unit. Further, when it is determined by the location determination unit that the capsule endoscope has arrived at the large intestine, the transmission unit in the capsule endoscope transmits a notifying signal which notifies of the arrival.
