PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a change with time of the friction characteristics.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for friction plates 1 is to adjust the surface roughness by providing asperity 9 on a friction surface 7 which contacts with another friction surface as the mating party and makes friction engagement therewith, and includes an asperity forming process 3 to form asperity 21 on the surface 13 of a press form 11A by shot peening and an asperity inverting process 5 to form the inverted asperity 9 of the friction surface 7 by pressing a press die 11 furnished with asperity 21 to the friction plate 1, wherein the crest 19a of a projection 19 on the press die 11 is shaped steeper than the bottom 17a of a recess 17 formed in the press die 11, while the crest 25a of a projection 25 on the asperity 9 formed inversely on the friction surface 7 by pressing the surface of the press die 11 is shaped more gradually than the bottom 23a of a recess 23 formed at the friction surface 7. |
