PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe joint in which a seal member can be well inserted between the outer peripheral surface of the spigot and the inner peripheral surface of the socket.SOLUTION: The seal member 22 comprises a base end 24 pressed by a pressing ring 23 in the depth direction B of the socket. A recess into which the base end 24 of the seal member 22 is fitted is formed in the pressing ring 23. The recess includes a pressing surface 28 which is formed at the bottom part and presses the base end 24 of the seal member 22 and a tapered arresting surface 29 which is formed around the pressing surface 28 and arrests the base end 24 of the seal member 22 in the diameter enlarging direction C. The pressing ring 23 comprises a centering means 35 which guides the pressing ring 23 in a pipe radial direction so that the center of the pressing ring 23 is aligned with a pipe axis 32 while the pressing ring 23 is moved in the pressing direction B in which the pressing ring presses the seal member 22. The centering means 35 includes the arresting surface 29 of the pressing ring 23 and a seal member side tapered surface 36 formed on the seal member 22. |
