The element has sensors provided for signal analysis of green LEDs (101-104), red LEDs (108, 109) and blue LEDs (110, 111). A controller controls one of the LEDs based on the signal analysis. The sensors and the controller are formed as an optical window (107) and arranged on a semiconductor substrate i.e. application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) (105). An interface (112) is provided for adjustment of light intensity and/or chromaticity coordinates. The LEDs are arranged in separate LED-strands. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a light-emitting element.
