The system has a brake assistant (12) accomplishing control intervention on basis of current driving conditions, where the system is connected with a navigation system (11) to consider a stretching position determined by the navigation system during control intervention in a motor vehicle function. The navigation system determines the stretching position from a stored map material. The brake assistant is connected with the navigation system and/or a detection device (10) e.g. brake pedal sensor (14), by a bus system and/or a wireless connection (17). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a driver assistance system.
