The method involves attaching a memory (38) to a park sensor (10) for storing data to be input, where the sensor includes transmitters i.e. infrared light source (20), for transmitting a scanning signal (21) and a receiver i.e. infrared sensor (22), for receiving a scanning signal (21') reflected from objects e.g. parking bay floor (24) and vehicle (28). Data are transmitted to the receiver by a wireless remote controller (30), which comprises an infrared light source (32), where carrier signal frequency of the controller is higher than that of the infrared light source of the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a park sensor comprising a memory.
