The drive (1) has an electric motor (2) e.g. high-speed electric motor, and a propeller (3) driven by the electric motor, where the propeller is surrounded by a jacket ring (4). The electric motor is coupled with a drive shaft (5) of the propeller without transmission ratio, where the drive is arranged in an adjustable, tiltable propulsion nacelle coupled with a glider. A battery mechanism includes a lithium-iron phosphate accumulator. The propeller is rotated to produce thrust to drive the glider. An output shaft of the motor is directly coupled with the drive shaft of the propeller. An independent claim is also included for a glider.
