The bag has a front side comprising a front flat-ended edge (18), and a rear side comprising a rear flat-ended edge (20). The sides exhibit a position in a tearable section that is defined for tearing the bag. A tear-preferred direction (R) of the position, a direction of a tear extension, and a tear-parallel line enclose an angle that ranges from 5 to 20 degrees, when the bag is in an unfilled, flat reference condition, where the tear-parallel line is parallel to the flat-ended edges. A barrier layer is made of aluminum, metal oxide and ethylene vinyl alcohol. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a free standing flat-ended bag.
