[Class 46.] In a self-contained filtering-apparatus for beer and other liquids, consisting of a delivery funnel having a filtering element above its outlet, the cover is provided with an inlet having a hinged or removable lid. As shown, the apparatus has a hinged lid m<2>. The filter consists of a funnel part b and an upper cylindrical part a between which a sheet of filter paper c is clamped. The funnel b has a hemi-spherical base b<1> and a supplementary inlet b<2> having a cover b<3> for introducing clear liquid. The outlet has a stop-cock d<1> and a detachable tube d closed at its lower end by a screw and having perforated sides. A tap e is also provided for testing the filtrate. The filter paper c is supported on a perforated plate b<5> and gripped by flanges a<4>, b<4> on the two sections of the filter with a rubber packing ring c<1> between. Screws f, hinged to the funnel b and having nuts f<1> bearing on a cross-member a<6> fixed on the top, hold the two parts a, b together. A supplementary filter m consisting of an oval chamber is fixed in the top and this filter has a perforated base m<1> and the hinged lid m<2>. A crank r with an external handle is provided for lifting the plate b<5>. The apparatus is supported on two curved skirt-like projections h with curved bases h<1> adapted to fit on the side of a cask or to stand on the top. |
