The invention relates to a sock (1), particularly an athletic or hiking sock, or a pair of socks comprised of two corresponding socks (1), wherein the sock (1) has at least one ankle region (2), at least one instep region (3), and at least one sock sole region (4). The sock is substantially improved in that the sock sole region (4) is configured in a structured manner as a function of - at least partially - a rolling motion stress line (5), or as a function of - at least partially - a limiting line (5b), wherein the course of the rolling motion stress line (5), or the course of the limiting line (5b), is substantially defined by the gait line of a human  foot, and particularly corresponds to the gait line of a particular foot type of a user.
