The method involves determining an image geometry underlying X-ray in an X-ray machine (2). Position of an X-ray receiver (22) and position of an X-ray source (20) are recorded independently by a position detection device (32). The X-ray source and the X-ray receiver of the X-ray machine are arranged opposite to each other at a C-bend (10). The position of the X-receiver and the position of the X-ray source are detected by a non-contact working position detection device.
