A process for the manufacture of hard stiff articles from pulverized wood or like material consists in mixing the pulverized wood with a dissolved compound of cellulose, shaping the articles under pressure and then subjecting them to chemical treatment for retransforming the cellulose compounds into free cellulose. Examples show the use of xanthogenated cellulose, copper oxide-ammonia cellulose, and nitrocellulose as the binding agents. |
