Method for grouping packages

The device (1) has a grouping belt (3) for transporting and/or grouping of packages (5) with dimensionally stable protruding edges (9). Moving units are arranged for moving two adjacent packages towards one another and for overlapping the protruding edges in such a manner that the protruding edge of the preceding package rests against the protruding edge of the following package on the grouping belt. Each package includes a container (5) and a lid film that is circumferentially sealed onto the edges. A gripper system (12) is arranged to transport the packages away from the grouping belt. An independent claim is also included for a method for grouping of packages.
