The method involves supplying reaction mixture (N) into an outgassing chamber (29) of an intermediate container (31). The mixture is outgassed. A portion (R1) of reaction mixture residues (R) i.e. hot oil mixture substances, is led back and exposed into a sample container (20) and a mixing pump (24) at a crack temperature (T). Another portion (R2) of the residues is supplied into a bypass (35) and the chamber, and is outgassed. Settled residues (A) in the container are collected and removed on time. Vacuum-gas-oil (V) is supplied in liquid form as refilling product into the container. An independent claim is also included for a device for thermally processing biomass.
