PURPOSE: An accelerated cooling apparatus for steel sheets is provided to ensure improved steel sheet cooling performance by breaking the boiling layer of cooling water, which is formed on the surface of a steel sheet, with high-pressure straight air injected from a high pressure nozzle. CONSTITUTION: An accelerated cooling apparatus for steel sheets comprises an air tank(4), an air discharge pipe, a high pressure nozzle(6), a low pressure nozzle, and a connection pipe(7). The air tank is filled to the air of high pressure. The air discharge pipe is connected to the air tank. The high pressure nozzle is installed on an end of the air discharge pipe and sprays the high-pressure air onto the surface of a steel sheet(2) in order to break the boiling layer of cooling water. The connection pipe is connected to the air discharge pipe. The low pressure nozzle is installed on an end of the connection pipe and sprays low-pressure air onto the cooling water surface in order to form a cooling water layer of uniform thickness on the entire steel sheet.
