[Class 83 (iii).] In fluid-operated feed mechanism having a metering device 31, disposed in the exhaust from the cylinder 10 during the working stroke, a byepass 40 is provided controlled by a valve 41 independent of the main control valve 20. In the form shown, the metering device is driven from the headstock spindle of a lathe, and the working stroke is effected directly by compressed air supplied at 21, and the return stroke by liquid forced from a reservoir 15 by the admission of compressed air. In a modification, the working stroke also is effected by liquid forced from a reservoir by compressed air. |
