The network has computer work stations (6, 7) connected with each other, and a computer provided with a keyboard, a mouse, a monitor and a switching unit (8). A picture transmission takes place between the work stations by the switching unit without performing digital signal processing and transformation in the signal type. The switching unit and the work stations are connected with each other by a cable (9). The switching unit exhibits a switching circuit for digital processing of transmitted signals and transformation into picture signals.
