The method involves detecting candidate material parameter sets (bc) for the different possible material combinations using a candidate value determining unit (12). The material combinations and/or material parameter sets (b) are selected using a selection unit (13) based on a predetermined selection criteria (AK) e.g. mathematical standard criteria. A radiological image data (B) is generated using an image combination unit (14) based on the selected the material combinations and/or the material parameter sets.
