The device (1) has a light receiving camera unit (2) for delivering light-image data, and a thermographic camera unit (3) for delivering thermographic image data. An evaluation unit (6) is arranged to determine a three-dimensional image information of a surface of an object (8) using the light-image data and to combine the three-dimensional image information with the thermographic image data to form three-dimensional thermographic image information of the surface. The evaluation unit exhibits calibration data for the light receiving camera unit and the thermographic camera unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for contactless three-dimensional detection of a surface of an object.
