The packaging machine (1) has a forming station (2) for deforming a web-shaped material (8), and has a device (23) for transferring energy to the web-shaped material. A device (21) is provided for partial application of a heating agent on the web-shaped material. The heating agent is adapted to transfer energy to the web-shaped material for non-uniform heating of the web-shaped material during a spatially homogeneous energy transfer from the energy transferring device. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a web-shaped material with energy applications; and (2) a method for deforming a web-shaped material.
