A system for monitoring one or more components of an aircraft wiring system component is provided. The system comprises at least one sensor configured to detect one or more partial discharges produced by a respective one of the components of the aircraft wiring system and to generate at least one monitoring signal, at least one electrical-to-optical converter configured to convert the monitoring signal to an optical signal, at least one optical connector configured to transmit the optical signal, and at least one optical-to-electrical converter configured to convert the optical signal to an electrical signal. The system further comprises a data acquisition system configured to process the electrical signal. Further, a method for monitoring one or more components of an aircraft wiring system component is also presented.
