The pump (1) has a cylinder (6) for mounting a piston (5). The piston is indirectly supported on a shaft-rolling surface (4) of a drive shaft (2) with a cam (3) by a cam roller (10) with a roller-rolling surface (11), so that the piston produces translation movement based on rotational movement of the shaft. Different rolling friction coefficients are developed at the roller- and shaft-rolling surfaces. The rolling surfaces are partially made of steel. A circular groove (17) is made of rubber, non-ferrous metal, leather, glass, oxide ceramic and/or non-oxide ceramic materials. An independent claim is also included for a high pressure injection system comprising a high pressure pump and a high pressure rail.
