The method involves cleaning an interior surface (15) of a stirrer pot (4) by actuating a stirring unit (6) after filling the stirrer pot with a cleaning liquid (17). A program-controlled repeated reversal of a rotational direction of the stirring unit is made, where the stirring unit is formed in the stirrer pot. The stirring unit is operated with a rotational speed before reversing the rotational direction of the stirring unit, such that a level of the cleaning liquid is adjusted, where the rotational speed is selected before reversing the rotational direction.
