Disclosed are an information processing device, information processing method, playback device, playback method, and program, which can make so that it is possible to reasonably play back 3D image content. A base view video stream (L-image) and a dependent view video stream (R-image) generated by means of an H.264 AVC/MVC encoding method, as well as a PlayList that is information for controlling playback are recorded on an optical disk (2). When the value of MVC_flag set in the PlayList signifies that information relating to 3D playback is contained, 3D playback is performed while also referring to the descriptions in ExtensionData() in PlayList. Information relating to the playback of the dependent view video stream is stated in a field in ExtensionData(). The present disclosures can be used in a Blu-Ray (registered trademark) Disk player.
