The present invention relates to a supramolecular polymer comprising quadruple hydrogen bonding units 4H within the polymer backbone, said supramolecular polymer being obtainable by reacting a monomeric unit (a) having the structure 4H* - (F i ) r (IV) and a macromonomeric unit (b) having the structure P-(F i ) s , wherein the monomeric unit (a) is represented by formula (VIIa) or (VIIb), and tautomers and/or enantiomers thereof:
