The unit (2) has a mechanism shifting a set of screens (4-10) i.e. LCD screens, in parallel to a plane of display between a retracted position in which the screens overlap to reduce a cumulated display surface, and a fully deployed position in which the overlapping of the screens is reduced or eliminated to increase the cumulated display surface. A computer (12) commands a display of a set of image portions on respective screens, so as to display a complete image on the totality of the cumulated display surface both in the retracted position and in the fully deployed position. The screens are organic LED screens. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for displaying an image (2) an information-recording medium comprising a set of instructions for displaying an image.
