RF COIL AND MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING APPARATUS

Disclosed are an RF coil and an MRI apparatus enabling a wide imaging space to be set and having an excellent maintainability after the installation and a failure. The RF coil is provided with a cylindrical outer conductor and rung conductors arranged inside the outer conductor and along the circumferential direction of the outer conductor. The RF coil is characterized in that the rung conductors are electrically connected to the outer conductor through capacitors so as to form an electrical loop, that the outer conductor are split in the circumferential direction, and that the numbers of rung conductors arranged for at least two split parts are different. The MRI apparatus is provided with such an RF coil.
