<p>The present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions in powder form comprising an anti-malarial agent. Specifically, the present invention relates to the pharmaceutical compositions, in powder form, comprising artesunate, a pharmaceutically acceptable hydroxycarbohydrate carrier and a phosphate buffer, wherein in aqueous form, the composition has a pH in the range of 6.9 to 9.2 and wherein the ratio between the artesunate and the pharmaceutically acceptable hydroxycarbohydrate carrier is in the range of 0.5:1.5 to 1.5:0.5 by weight. Further, the present invention relates to a unit dose comprising the pharmaceutical compositions. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a unit dose comprising the pharmaceutical compositions for use in the treatment of malaria. The preferred hydroxycarbohydrate carrier may be mannito, sorbitol or xylitol.</p> |
