The probe (1) has an elongated flexible probe body (2) extending from a proximal end (4) to a distal end (3). The distal end has a distal end section that is partially transformable between a narrow condition and a radially broadened condition. A half-spherical tip electrode (6) is mounted on the distal end section. An electrical supply line extends within the probe body to the electrode. A displacement mechanism is coupled to the distal end section, where actuation of the mechanism transforms the distal end section between the narrow and the radially broadened conditions.
