A protein is modified with a peptide comprising a polyarginine and a cysteine residue. In this manner, the efficiency of the solubilization of an insoluble protein can be improved and the efficiency of the incorporation of the insoluble protein into cells can also be improved. The modifying agent can eliminate the necessity of incorporation of a polyarginine into a gene in the expression of a protein, which is required in conventional techniques, and enables the improvement in the efficiency of the introduction of a protein into cells in a simpler manner.
