The applicator has an applicator brush provided with a bristle field (3) that is made of outwardly protruding stationary bristles (4), mobile bristles (5) and/or a set of bristle disks. A free space (8) is formed between the stationary bristles or one of the set of bristle disks and loaded with cosmetic by dipping the brush into a reservoir. Base areas (6, 7) of the stationary bristles and the mobile bristles are moved relative to each other such that the free space is arbitrarily varied.
