FREQUENCY SEARCH METHOD AND APPARATUS

A frequency search method and apparatus are provided by the present invention. The method comprises receiving one of composite frames of a frequency point transmitted by a reference base station when a base station is performing frequency search on a frequency point in a frequency point set; according to received signal strength indication (RSSI) value in a predetermined time length of the frame, determining that the frequency point is a broadcast control channel (BCCH) carrier frequency point, then performing frequency correction channel (FCCH) detection and obtaining the frequency point information of the frequency point according to the detected FCCH; according to the RSSI value, determining that the frequency point is not a BCCH carrier frequency point, then determining that frequency search on the frequency point is failed, forbidding FCCH detection on the frequency point and waiting for receiving the composite frames of the next frequency point. The present invention reduces FCCH detection time and improves the performance of a base station.
