PURPOSE: A solar battery and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce the manufacturing process and time of a solar battery by forming a protective layer into a single layer structure of a silicide material having superior contact efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An emitter part(120) is located on a substrate(110). The emitter part has a second conductive type opposite to a first conductive type. A first electrode is electrically connected to the emitter part. A protective layer(191) is located on the substrate.
